Violin and Viola Teacher

Ms. McDermott has been teaching since 2016, starting at W.O. Smith Music School in Nashville, Tennessee. Five years later, she began working as a supplemental violin teacher for Collierville Municipal Schools in Collierville, Tennessee. She also worked as a violin teacher at Faith Music Academy in Bartlett, Tennessee and SpaceArts in Memphis, Tennessee. During the summers of 2022 and 2023, Ms. McDermott was a teaching assistant at the Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan.

She currently works as a supplemental violin/viola instructor for the Frenship Independent School District and Lubbock Independent School District. She is also a teaching artist for the Lubbock Symphony.

Many of her students have won seats in TMEA’s All Region and Lubbock Youth Orchestras. Additionally, they have made superior ratings at TMEA Solo/Ensemble.

Ms. Mc Dermott is registered in books 1 through 4 on violin and 1 through 3 on viola in the Suzuki Method. Her teacher trainers were Holly Smardo, Mark Mutter, and Charles Regauer.
